Gasoline Prices Week in Review

The national average fell 1.3¢ from a week ago, ending a $3.461 per gallon. This despite prices on the NYMEX for WTI crude moving up 7% to finish at $93.63.

85 Bank Closures for 2011

A Des Plaines Illinois bank was closed by regulators on Friday, October the 28th. With this action, there have been 85 bank closures in 2011, costing the FDIC DIF an estimated $6.9618 Billion. This compares to 139 closures by this date in 2010.

Gasoline Prices look set to ease slightly

Crude prices just barely nudged up the past week, but a big reported drop in consumer demand of gasoline pushed those inventories into fairly decent shape. Thus the gasoline prices may ease back a bit for the next week.

Inflation at 3.9%, over past year

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics report just released has prices moving up +0.3% from last month. The report states that the rate of inflation over the past 12 months was 3.9% before adjustments.

Gasoline prices moving upward

It looks like the falling prices may have stalled amid both lower dollar valuations and crude oil demand. Crude oil moved up to $87.28, with $2~$3 dollars of that rise being accounted for in a weaker dollar, as the dollar fell -2.72% over the past week.

Pump prices fell another 6.8¢ the past week... finishing at $3.461. With crude prices staying down, the potential for more drops is fairly good. Regionally was a mixed bag, with PADD 2 posting a and straight week of 10¢+ drops.
